Understand Men…

Listen to how my oldest, wisest, smoothest brother first told a woman that he liked her; but, first, keep in mind that if www.understandmen.com, the premier site for insight into relationships, had existed 30 years ago, this never would have happened. Here we go…

It was 4^th grade, and he liked this girl to the point where he had developed a gravity-sized crush on her. Thing was, though, he hadn’t figured out how to tell her, let alone impress until…

“Hi, Candy”, he nervously said to her as he stopped to greet her in the upstairs school hallway. He was shaking already and was inwardly praying to Allah, Muhammed, God, Jesus, and Scooby Doo that his voice would hold.

Candy smiled that radiant smile and tossed her oh-so-perfect 4^th grader brown hair. “Hey, Bri!,” she squeaked. “What’s happenin’?”

She was talking to him! The event was already going better than he had predicted. Now, it was time to reel in the fish.

“Candy? I need to tell you something,” my brother said, fidgeting from foot to foot. Candy just stood there politely, as grammar school misses are prone to do. Welling up his courage, my brother finally let her hear what he had been storing inside for so long. “I like you.”

Who ever knew that three, short, little words could hold so much meaning? But, my brother wasn’t done with his adulation.

“I like you SO much, Candy. I just wanted to let you know that my family got a new dog, and I named my dog after you,” he triumphantly concluded.

I don’t think that he ever saw the purse coming. It was moving so fast that when she whacked him with it in his face, it literally knocked him from his feet. And, then she stomped away.

Needless to say, fast forward 20-plus years, and he’s still having trouble understanding women. Let’s be truthful, now, because we know that he isn’t alone in this department. Men all over the world and women all over the world are having lots of trouble communicating with each other. And, it doesn’t stop there. Women can recall times where they just relate to another woman, and men can talk about times that they just “didn’t get” other men.
