Hello everyone,
It seems to me that, with all the big industry lay-offs, that a lot of folks are looking to reinvent themselves. I think that is great news. I am hoping that people want to become hairstylists, makeup artists, manicurists and estheticians. The “makeover” shows have done a lot to promote our industry, a very good thing indeed, considering that we sometimes feel demoralized (more on that later on).

Hi, Voula Here:
Coloring your hair can be a big step, particularly if you’ll be lightening or darkening your hair more than a shade or two. While hair coloring can be done successfully at home, it carries with it a certain degree of stress and headache. There are so many factors to consider from selecting the proper shade, selecting the right products, to using them effectively. Sometimes you need the help of a professional hair colorist to get the results you want without falling victim to a “bad dye job.” If you need professional consultation before taking the big step, here’s how to find the right hair colorist:

Hello everyone,
Hair loss is a big problem with our clients in the salon nowadays. Most complain about how thin their hair seems to be. Lifeless hair, no body, lack of shine and of course, male pattern baldness. I freely give advice when asked, I tell most of my clients to up their water intake to about 3 liters a day, get on a vitamin/supplement regime, sleep more and exercise. Just that little bit of advice can stimulate the hair follicle and can regenerate the hair and scalp. But lets face some hard facts: environmental pollutants take a toll on our bodies, our air and food is often times toxic, genetics also plays a leading role in hair loss, and lets not forget our diet: rich in saturated fats and preservatives thanks to the greedy food industry that tries hard to brainwash us into eating more and more garbage. All those and more are factors of hair loss and thinning hair. Please don’t get me started on what STRESS can do to your hair and system over all.

Hi, Voula here:

Have you ever stood in your shower, naked of course, and looked at the body wash or shampoo bottle and thought: “what exactly is the source of the artificial fragrances? Where do the preservatives and dye’s in my shampoo come from? And What exactly are Parabens, Propylene Glycol and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate?” Ok, maybe you never paid attention, but what on earth are these evil sounding chemicals? If you don’t have any answers to these questions listed above, or were simply up too early in the morning to ask these, let us take this opportunity to ask, “If you don’t let chemically processed foods in your body, why are you allowing chemicals and artificial products on your hair and body?” After all the skin is a large porous organ that absorbs a lot of these chemicals. Hi, Voula here:
The state of the country is in trouble. Everyone is concerned with their welfare, and the holidays are apprehensively approaching. We shouldn’t be concerned with being able to buy those cute Ugg boots, that Apple I-phone or a Playstation 3. We should all be thankful that there is still a roof over our heads to keep us warm and safe, as well as food on the table every night. As long as we still hold on to the necessities of food, shelter and health, that is all that matters.
Unfortunately, there are many people in our country that don’t have certain necessities needed in life. Even though we are all going through difficult times, we still need to be generous towards the homeless. We all may have problems, but there is always someone somewhere that is in a worse position than us.
Rosslyn is doing something to help our homeless. On Thursday, December 11th from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Top of the Town, there is the Third Annual A-SPAN Help-the-Homeless Holiday Gala. There will be a Live Auction with 107.3′s Chilli Amar, live music and hors d’oeuvres catered by Santa Fé Cafe. A-SPAN is a nonprofit community-based organization hosting the gala. Their mission is to assist every homeless person in Arlington County to get off the streets and live a life of dignity. A-SPAN works with and on behalf of homeless people to secure the support and services necessary for them to lead self-sufficient and healthy lives.
Tickets are limited, so visit www.A-SPAN.org to purchase!
This is the time we all need to ban together and help each other. With everyone banded together and supporting each other, we will make it through everything.
